These 2016 USA Salon Tango Champions gave a highly popular and rewarding workshop series last year. They are back with new topics (and repeating a most valuable and talked about workshop on the hidden forces of leading and following.)
Around the world, tango dancers praise Adam and Tilly for their teaching and performing at festivals and workshops. These young masters have the highest regard for what we can achieve when we combine classic milonguero movements with modern understanding of leading, following, and styling. Students love the clarity of their progressive approach that results in learning interesting, useful figures plus dance success principles.
Classes – schedule and descriptions
Classes are an hour and fifteen minutes in length.
Friday, 7:00 pm
Updating classic moves with modern technique (Intermediate +): The old milongueros are renowned for their distinctive, personalized styles, and classic moves make a wonderful way to honor historical roots and seek inspiration. Let’s look at some trademark figures and how we can update them with today’s technique.
We will have a 15 minute break between classes on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday, 1:00 pm
Close Embrace connection and refinement (All levels): Why and how the embrace breathes. We will put a magnifying glass to the fluid close embrace and help you really connect with your partner.
Saturday, 2:30 pm
Mingo’s 8 count turn (Review) with barridas (Intermediate): During our last trip we taught Mingo Pugliese’s 8 count turn. Now we plan to use this turn to build vocabulary from it. This class will feature great barrida sequences.
Sunday, 1:00 pm
Connection (All levels): Tango is all about the connection. In this class, we’ll explore how to use our bodies to communicate effectively with our partners. We’ll focus on refining how to lead and follow the building blocks of tango: linear movement and circular rotation. NOTE: this repeats a class from their first visit because so many people found this topic so useful.
Sunday, 2:30 pm
Musicality (Intermediate): Rhythmic additions for followers and leaders. This class will explore playful rhythmic elements that will add variety and spice to your dance. We’ll practice leading, following, and embellishing one of the most common rhythmic motifs in tango music.

About Adam and Tilly
I love watching them dance (with each other and with regular folk!) and aspire to dance the way they do. So dynamic, so musical, so clean and connected. I love the clarity, engagement, and support of their teaching.
